Pixar (Toy Story 3, the Trash Day Scene)

The main character in the Pixar movie, Toy Story 3, is Woody the cowboy. The main character goes through the Hero's Journey by trying to rescue his friends. Andy kept Woody for himself and decided to send Woody's friends to the attic. Until Andy's sister, Molly, had trouble carrying her box of toys that she was giving away so Andy helped her carry her stuff which he ended up leaving the bag of toys on the floor, which lead to Andy's mom mistakenly taking the trash bag that the toys were in outside to throw out. Woody saw what happened and had a mission to try to save his friends from being taken and being crushed by the garbage truck. His friends were able to get out of the trash bag by the rex the t-rex's pointy tail stabbing the plastic bag, and his friends went into the car to get in a box that was going to a daycare called sunny-side which woody followed them.

The Connection:

Once upon a time, there was a cowboy name "woody". Everyday Andy plays with his toys when he was a kid. One day when Andy got older he decided to put his toys in the attic with the trash bag except for woody which he was going to bring to college, but was helping his little sister molly carrying her toys that were in a box leaving the bag of toys on the floor. Because of that, Andy's mom picked up the trash bag with the toys in it which she was going to throw out for trash day. Because of that, Woody had to rescue his friends from being taken and crushed by the garbage truck. Until finally, his friends managed to get out of the trash bag by Rex the t-rex's pointy tail. Woody's friends went to the car to get in, and into the box that was going to a daycare called Sunny-side which woody went in as well.

The Hogwarts Letter Scene

                   The Hogwarts letter scene

The scene shows that Harry is at home looking through the mail, when he saw that there was one letter for him. He went to the kitchen to give his foster father the letters except the letter that was for himself. His foster brother then took the letter that was for Harry Potter and gave it to his foster father when he saw the letter that Harry was holding. The father looked at the letter and ripped it up. The owls kept sending Harry more and more of the same letters until he finally read one, The foster father then decided to move far away so the owls couldn't find them.

This scene qualifies as the first step of The Hero's Journey "call to adventure" because Harry Potter was sent a mysterious letter by the owls. The mysterious letter was for Harry to go to a Wizard school. The letter will be Harry's call to adventure.

Bringing Technology into Education

1.)How could you as a student benefit from having a school provided i-pad?

As a student, I would benefit from having a school-provided i-pad for school because having an i-pad will replace the textbooks. It'll be much easier for me to carry less things than heavy textbooks and notebooks. It will also help me keep in contact with my teachers, turn in my papers, and do homework assignments.

2.)How would this change your classes?

This would change my classes by typing notes instead of writing notes. I also use some apps that will help me learn more about the classes that I'm taking in school.

3.)How would this change the way you learn?

This would change the way I learn because it will help me focus more on the material that I'am learning.

                          What is a Hero?

1.)A hero is a person who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements,or noble qualities.

2.)My definition of a hero is fighting villains and crime to protect the city and saving the lives of the citizens, even sacrificing yourself to save or protect them.

3.)My definition of a hero has changed since we were talking about the lesson of heroes. It changed when we were reading an article called,"The Heroes Journey" in class. It changed for me because The movie was about a triumph of human spirit. Everyone has the spirit to become a hero.

Should high schools require students to read the "classics"?

High schools should require students to read the classics because you can learn many new things you haven't experience or known yet...
